A Day in the Life of a Skincare Business Owner

My day to day in a nutshell. Not every day pans out like this but most days, I follow the below routine.

6:30 AM: Rise and Shine
My day begins with me taking my puppy out for a walk; either at the park, or just running around in circles on the grass in the backyard – until he decides to go. After that, I then get his breakfast ready while I go to get ready for the day. My morning routine includes a 3-step skincare regimen of serum,, lotion/cream, and oil (depending on the weather)..

8:30 AM: Breakfast and Briefing
I am not a breakfast person, so I tend to just drink water and a pinch of Celtic salt while I scan through my emails. I make it a point to check our online customer feedback first. Understanding customer experiences and concerns helps us improve and innovate.

9:00 AM: Team Huddle
My team is remote, so we tend to ‘huddle’ online. I start with a quick meeting where we discuss everything from product development to marketing strategies to unresolved issues. These meetings keep everyone aligned and motivated.

10:00 AM: Supplier and Manufacturer Calls
I personally speak with our suppliers and manufacturers to ensure everything is on track and standards are being met. We discuss ingredients, product batches, and any logistical issues.

12:00 PM: Lunch and Learn
Lunch is my opportunity to catch up on industry news. I often use this time for webinars and online courses, right after I feed the puppy, of course. The skincare industry is constantly evolving, and staying informed is key.

1:30 PM: Product Development
In the afternoons, I often work with our R&D team. We’ve been working on a new formulation for some time now and will be testing it today. It’s exciting to see a product go from concept to reality, and I love being hands-on during this process.

3:30 PM: Customer Engagement
This time is for my customers (not fixed for 3:30 pm every day but I tend to do this daily). I dedicate time each day to engage with our customers online. Whether it’s responding to emails or updating our blog.

4:30 PM: Strategy Review
I review our business performance and strategic goals with my Accountant (once a week). We analyze sales data, marketing ROI, and prepare for any upcoming product launches. This helps us stay proactive and financially sound.

6:00 PM: Wind Down
Before logging off for the day, I set the next day’s priorities. Staying organized is essential when you juggle as many hats as I do. It’s definitely easy to forget some things.

7:00 PM: Dinner and Downtime
Evening is for recharging. After dinner, I spend time with my puppy and get ready to start winding down for the day.

9:00 PM: Evening Skincare Routine
My evening routine is 2-step. Depending on the weather (summer or winter), I use serum and lotion or serum and oil. On alternating days, I use my toner and then on the weekends, I add a clay mask to the routine.

10:00 PM: Lights Out
After setting my intentions for the next day, it’s time to sleep. A good night’s rest is the ultimate beauty secret and the perfect prep for another day ahead.

Reflecting on My Journey
Running a skincare business is as challenging as it is rewarding. Each day is different, filled with new lessons and opportunities to grow. My passion for skincare and commitment to our customers drives every decision I make. Here’s to another day of making a positive impact—one face at a time!
